Treatment Specialist (T-Spec)
This is a Full Time; 35 hours a week position Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday or varied days with Supervisor Approval.
Essential Job Functions
- Remain current with regards to OPWDD and ICF regulatory changes and updates as training and policies occur.
- Demonstrate an understanding of active treatment and skill development needs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Implement and monitor developmental goals under the guidance of the QIDP and the Assistant Director of Clinical Services.
- Provide hands on support with the residents to ensure knowledge of the overall functioning and achievement.
- Daily activities may include bending, standing, walking, pushing people in wheelchairs and lifting less than 25 pounds.
- Provide role modeling and mentoring to the direct support professional staff, especially during times of program goal development and revision.
- Provide regular training and guidance to the direct support staff as needed.
- Respond to crisis, including in person as needed.
- Attend all interdisciplinary team meetings and provide general feedback to the team.
- Maintain data tracking for submission to the QIDP, BIS and other disciplines as assigned.
- Attend related meetings, including but not limited to, general information and medication review, to provide information about current progress etc.
- Visit the schools and day programs on a monthly basis.
- Maintain SCIP-R certification and assist in situations as warranted.
- Maintain SCIP-R trainer certification and assist in training needs as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service or related field with at least one year directly related experience preferred or 5 years working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Valid NYS Driver’s License, for more than 3 years.
- Compassionate, professional, reliable and a team player.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Products
$23.29-$30.47 per hour
