Leadership
Cardinal Hayes Home is led by Executive Director, Mrs. Mary Sontheimer, an experienced executive team, and Board of Directors, sharing the common goal of providing the highest quality of care for our individuals. Our Board of Directors, on which eighteen people serve, meet four times a year. These Directors, through their expertise in a variety of fields, provide guidance and counsel to agency administration. Included on the Board are professionals with backgrounds in banking and other areas of business, religion, teaching, social work, nursing, and human resources. Family members of two Cardinal Hayes individuals also serve on the Board.

Cardinal Hayes Home for Children is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated under the Laws of the State of New York. The agency is affiliated with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York.
Cardinal Hayes Home for Children and Cardinal Hayes School for Special Children are listed in the Official Catholic Directory and have tax exempt status under a Group Ruling issued by the IRS for all organizations listed in the Official Catholic Directory (Kennedy Directory).
Cardinal Hayes is accredited by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD); NYS Department of Social Services; NYS Education Department; NYS Department of Health. All programs of Cardinal Hayes are subject to periodic surveys by these organizations to assure compliance with their regulations.
