Funding Sources

Cardinal Hayes Home for Children is certified by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities as a public provider of services. CHHC relies upon Medicaid funding as the primary source of support for its programs for children and young adults who are disabled. Our organization also benefits from charitable gifts from loyal donors.

In order to provide the quality care long associated with Cardinal Hayes Home, the agency depends on other sources of revenue through grants, direct mail appeals and bequests. The kindness and generosity of benefactors make it possible for CHHC to provide the young people in care every opportunity to reach their maximum potential. Agency administration, looking to future needs, periodically conducts special appeals for new facilities or for expanding and refurbishing existing space.

Hayes Day School (Cardinal Hayes School for Special Children) is chartered by the New York State Education Department and receives tuition payments through local school districts. Tuition charged does not cover the full cost of operating the school. CHS offers specialized services that address the educational needs of children who are medically frail, physically disabled and intellectually disabled.

Our school is also the recipient of grants, donations or bequests that help the school meet its expenses. As needs are identified, donations are used to purchase specific therapeutic equipment and educational supplies.
