We are a non-profit agency based in Millbrook, NY responsible for ensuring that all residents are cared for, that their needs are understood, that their preferences are followed, and that their rights are protected.
This position provides the overall leadership necessary to maintain services to individuals in a manner consistent with best practice in nursing and the field of intellectual / developmental disabilities. This is a full-time exempt position scheduled Monday – Friday with flexibility based on the needs of the Agency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Current NYS RN License
- Five years supervisory experience and/or commensurate level of demonstrated increased responsibility in nursing supervision and management
- Proficiency with common computer applications, including Microsoft Office
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision, training, and guidance to the nursing team, including direct nursing care as necessary.
- Remain current with regards to OPWDD and ICF regulatory changes and updates. Train assigned staff members and monitor their understanding and implementation of appropriate regulations.
- Develop, monitor and revise policy and procedures as necessary in order to achieve consistent practices that conform with regulatory and best.
- Evaluate, develop and monitor systems within the nursing department that ensure consistent and efficient practice within all programs.
- Provide guidance and support to the nurses during, but not limited to, Interdisciplinary Team Meetings, general information and medication review.
- Communicate critical medical issues to the Assistant Executive Director and Executive Director.
- Participate in the development of new employee training and on-going agency training as needed.
- Participate in the Nurse on-call rotation and provide emergency on-call coverage in the administrative department rotation
- Participate as a member of the intake committee for the residential program, including travel for in person screening meetings.
- Oversee and approve program expenses.
- Provide supervision, training and guidelines to the dietary department.
